Early Childhood Programs

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) - Weekly time together classes for parents and their children birth to 5 years old. Our ECFE classes set the stage for parent involvement and children's success in school. Parent Education is also a component in all of our ECFE classes. The purpose of ECFE is to support and strengthen families as they care for and grow with young children. We do this by providing age appropriate activities for parents and children, sharing ideas and information to encourage healthy and nurturing relationships, and encouraging confident and effective parenting.

School Readiness Preschool - For children ages 3 to 5 (child only program), two (full or half days), or three or four  half days a week at the Brainerd Learning Center, Washington Educational Services Building, Baxter or Nisswa Elementary. Our preschool program prepares children to enter school with the necessary skills, behavior and stability they need to progress and flourish. We focus our learning around classroom routines and procedures, social and emotional development, and academic development.

Early Childhood Screening/Kindergarten Registration - Early Childhood Screening provides an opportunity for children and their parents to participate in a health and developmental screening. It is a state law that children be screened before kindergarten and this important screening is recommended at age three. Identifying potential problems or concerns early allows time for intervention during the critical formative years. Your child will be registered for kindergarten at the same time he or she is screened. For children that meet the criteria for Special Education, this appointment is optional.
